narjesus.com widens your horizons - Apologetics
Apologetics, a term derived from the Greek word απoλoγια ("apologia" in the origin means "defence speech", e.g. at court), is a collective term for all kinds of doing intellectual vindication and defence of the faith in Jesus Christ by valid and vigorous quality argument. As a means of preparedness for witnessing to non-Christians, basic knowledge in apologetics belongs to the very basic equipment of every Bible-believing Christian, as it was already mentioned by Peter:

"Always be prepared to give an answer (πρoς απoλoγιαν, literally: "for a defence speech") to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." (1 Peter 3:15)

Roughly speaking there are the two following distinct core issues apologetics deals with:
  • Defence of the Christian faith against arguments from adversaries of Christianity and against untrue and distorting accounts, assertions, and accusations, esp. in the public (state, government, justice, press, media, organizations)
  • Challenging analysis of, and demarcation from, the teachings of non-Christian religions (e.g. Islam, Hinduism, Germanic religion), world views and belief systems (e.g. communism, national socialism, humanism), and heresies entered into Christianity
To accomplish these goals apologetics uses quite a variety of methods like e.g.
  • evidential verification of events reported in the Bible through the methods of history sciences (history, archaeology) like e.g. text source analysis and dating of archaeological discoveries
  • use of other "profane" sciences (e.g. sociology, literary studies, medicine)
  • giving information about non-Christian teachings and confronting them by argument with the Biblical truth
  • presentation of the Biblical truth and its explanation by using logical reasoning
The texts and material offered and provided here in this area are intended to convince non-Christians of the faith in Jesus Christ, to defend the real Christian faith against public campaigns, and to give Christians confirmation of their faith in Jesus Christ and to reveal arguments and insights suitable for boosting their ability to give witness to non-Christians.

The collection of material offered in this area will still remain rather incomplete and will grow only at a very low rate.
